Throughout this semster I have worked on alot of projects that play a particular part in y overall theme. I have made projects incluing bowls, vases, lidded projects, a tea pot and a lot of mugs. I have worked hard on mastering new techniques such as working with larger amounts of clay, pulling up taller projects, making new lids, plates, and tea pots and overall I have bettered myself as a ceramics student. My projects all fit the theme of: Accent Colors.
In an overview of he year, i have made many bowls, a plate, a set of three, a wheel altered, a cylinder project, a lidded project, a few mugs and a tea pot. Many of these projects are glazed similarly which corresponds to my theme. The shape and the struteures of these project all differ but they still all fit my theme because they are mostly glazed in clear with one or two choice colors to be accented.
In accordance to how i made my projects, this semster i have developed many new skills on and off the wheel. This year i learned how to make different things such as plates, a new type of lid and a spout. These new techniques bettered my projcets much like my new style of glazing did. This semster i glazed most of my projects in a simple dipping fashion which is simple enough to show off the structure of the project while also being interesting enough to be an acceptable design. Off of the wheel I also bettered myself as a teacher. As an advanced student i spent alot of my time helping out some of the other students which taught me patience as well as slowing mysle fdown when i got on the wheel and "going back to the basics" to make my projects better too.
I like the theme i chose and believe that my projects fit very well with it. By choosing accent colors as my theme i spent more time on perfecting the structure of my projects when i was on the wheel rather than concentrating on the design of the galze. i like the way that the simple glaze emphasizes the hard work that i put into the design/structure of my project.
My theme bettered me as a ceramic student too. I spent more time on the wheel perfecting my projects rather than trying to rush, get them done, and try to hide the "mess-ups" once i got in the glaze room. My theme concentrates on the art of the structure over the art of the galze.
